St John the Baptist, Boylestone The church underwent major restoration and alteration in 1843-4 under Rector Roger Bickerstaff who at this time also built a school. The design of the tower is said to be very similar to that of the abbey church of Laach on the Rhine. The architect Henry Duesdury may well have copied from that. The church was further restored in 1888 under Rector Tansley Hall.
